2010 Rosé soon to be released.

It was an icy morning in July. Frost had settled overnight, leaving a delicate white crust on all that lay out under a clear starry sky. I jumped out of the ute and over to the pallet of bottles that were soon to be filled with delicious Rosé. My boots crunched across the brittle frozen grass. I was excited, although somewhat apprehensive. It was my birthday, and I was hoping to finish the day's work in time for a glass of Sherry in front of the Tour de France.

My apprehension soon turned to excitement, as the clinking of bottles swaying down the narrow conveyor belt of the portable bottling machine, chimed in a milestone for my latest release. Bottling only occurs when wine bound for a life behind glass is just right.

The 2010 Rose is a Durif Cabernet blend. Most unusual - just my style. It was handmade at the small Scion Winery in Rutherglen with much love. Grapes were handpicked with a team of four, and processed by a team of two. This Rosé is made in the traditional way; that is processing a red grape but with only partial colour extraction - the gently crushed skins and juice are separated from each other after a short while, prior to ferment.

I've aimed to craft a medium weight summer wine. The colour is bold and flavour unique. Perfect for a group of friends and picnic rug.

So there it was. A good day. Bottling went swimmingly, I even squeezed in that glass of Sherry. Ron x
